On June 25, 2009, the entire world stood still as we mourned the tragic passing of Michael Jackson. Jackson’s health problems were not public, making his death even more shocking as it was completely unexpected. He died at the young age of 50 years old after collapsing from cardiac arrest in his rented Holmby Hills, California, home. Jackson is survived by three children: Prince Michael, 12; Paris, 11; and Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, 7. His children have had a difficult time accepting the death of their father. At the memorial service, his youngest child wept as he held a Michael Jackson doll close to his chest. His daughter, Paris, spoke at the service saying, “Daddy has been the best father that you could ever imagine, and I just wanted to say that I love him so much.”

The stimulus bill was hailed as “an unprecedented effort to jumpstart our economy, create or save millions of jobs, and put a down payment on addressing long-neglected challenges so our country can thrive in the 21st century” by its political cheerleaders, but has it lived up to the high standard it set for itself?
