Wauwatosa, WI (June , 2010) - Duchie Rodgers & the Black Earth Band, K.I.C. and Mirage III held a concert on April 7th to benefit Salvation Army Haiti Relief efforts. Members of the bands presented a check in the amount of $2,330 to The Salvation Army’s Haiti Relief Effort on Tuesday, June 8th at Gene’s Lane & Lounge, 6315 N. Fond du Lac Avenue.

The Salvation Army mobilized resources and personnel to assist with the international relief efforts in Haiti following the 7.0 January, 12th earthquake that damaged the country’s infrastructure, housing and commercial buildings. The Salvation Army continues to provide food, water and medical services.

“We are grateful to the community for supporting the concert to benefit our Haiti relief efforts. Donations continue to meet the needs of disaster survivors on the ground in Port Au Prince and elsewhere in Haiti. The Salvation Army is working closely with multiple corporate partners and non-governmental organizations to provide food, water, medicine, shelter and other immediate aid.

While still meeting immediate needs, the service has moved from emergency to sustainable recovery efforts. These solutions include: repair/re-establish local water resources; provide water filtration capacity; provide assistance to the local population to rebuild permanent, more earthquake resistant housing; and develop strategic plans for long term Salvation Army Programs and Facility Reconstruction,” said Major Robert Thomson, Salvation Army Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Divisional Commander.
