Salvation Army Aids with Emergency Assistance during Patrick Cudahy Fire
South Milwaukee-Yesterday, a mandatory evacuation was issued by the City of Cudahy for residents living within a 1 mile radius from Patrick Cudahy. More than 150 firefighters and emergency personnel from all over the county worked to contain the 5 alarm fire that started during the evening of Sunday, July 5. Firefighters continue to battle the blaze today.
The threat of poor air quality due to smoke and chemicals, forced officials to relocate residents to first General Mitchell Elementary Middle school and then to South Milwaukee High School for lack of air conditioning and close proximity to the scene.
Salvation Army personnel worked with other emergency management officials and agencies to coordinate services and provide ongoing assistance, including meals, snacks and beverages as well as spiritual support to emergency officials, employees of Patrick Cudahy and residents at South Milwaukee High School.
Salvation Army officials are thankful for the support of numerous volunteers and donations made by local businesses and organizations.
